Red Deer U15 Female AA Sutter Fund Chiefs hosting AFHL Provincial Championships

The Red Deer U15 Female AA Sutter Fund Chiefs will be hosting the 2023 Alberta Female Hockey League (AFHL) Alberta Provincial Championships, taking place March 23-26 in Red Deer.
Team officials say U15AA Female teams from across the province battled in two playoff rounds for a coveted spot in the championships to come.
The elite female hockey team is based in Red Deer but the players are from all over central Alberta including two from Rocky Mountain House, two from Eckville, three from Bentley, four from Sylvan Lake, one from Lacombe, two from Delbourne, one from Stettler, and four from Red Deer.
“Hockey allows these girls to clear their minds of academic and social pressures, to literally skate off tension that’s accumulated in their muscles,” says Christine Heggart, 2023 U15 Female AA Provincials Media/Social Media Volunteer. “Hockey gives girls a satisfying, enjoyable way to develop their talents and skills. And as a parent that is relatively new to female hockey, the sportsmanship displayed at this U15 AA level to foster appreciation for female hockey and mentorship that occurs for younger girls in the central region dreaming of making this elite level of hockey, is second to none.”
