January 2022 Incident

Man charged in Red Deer drug bust ordered to stand trial

Mar 14, 2023 | 9:52 AM

One of two men charged in a local drug bust last year has been ordered to stand trial.

Randi Walter St.Germain, 42, of Red Deer, was ordered to stand trial following a preliminary hearing in Red Deer provincial court on March 10, 2023. A trial date, however, has yet to be set for St. Germain.

St. Germain’s co-accused, Erick Becker, 34, of Red Deer, is scheduled for trial in Calgary provincial court from Oct. 16-17, 2023.

Becker was charged with drug trafficking, possession of proceeds of crime, and breach of a release order in the January 26, 2022 incident.

That’s when members of ALERT (Alberta Law Enforcement Response Team) executed a search warrant at a Red Deer home in Vanier Woods. The organization says the search capped off a three-month investigation with the assistance of Red Deer RCMP.

The search warrant is alleged to have turned up the following:

  • Loaded shotgun;
  • 414 grams of methamphetamine;
  • 174 suspected fentanyl pills;
  • 28 grams of cocaine;
  • $4,450 cash

According to ALERT, the drugs seized had an estimated street value of $25,000, while the pills were submitted for further analysis.

St. Germain, meanwhile, was charged with possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking, possession of proceeds of crime, breach of a firearms prohibition order, unauthorized possession of a firearm, and possession of a loaded firearm.
