Pedestrian struck on QEll near Red Deer identified

Alberta RCMP Traffic – Innisfail advise that the pedestrian has been identified and his family have been notified.

Mounties thank the public for their assistance.

Feb. 23, 2023

Alberta RCMP Traffic – Innisfail are seeking public assistance in identifying the male pedestrian who was hit by a vehicle on Feb. 16, 2023. Unfortunately, he remains in hospital and he has not yet been identified.

He is described as:

  • Light complexion
  • Approximately 25-35 years old
  • Approximately 130-150 pounds and 5 foot 4 inches
  • Brown curly hair and blue eyes.

RCMP remain committed and engaged in this serious pedestrian collision investigation. Blackfalds and Innisfail RCMP are asking for the public to come forward with any vehicle dashboard footage. Dashboard video and images captured between 1:15 pm – 1:45 pm Feb. 16, 2023 along the north bound lanes of QE II Highway at the 32 Street exit may aid in this investigation.

North bound travel along QE II from the 32 Street exit has reopened.

RCMP wish to apologize for the initial reporting that this matter was a fatal. The pedestrian was air lifted and remains in critical condition in Edmonton.

Our thoughts are with all those involved in this tragic event.

Blackfalds RCMP are currently on scene of a fatal collision involving a pedestrian on the QEII Highway at the 32 avenue exit. Northbound traffic on the QE II will be diverted while officers investigate the incident.

An additional release with further details is anticipated.
