Sylvan Lake elementary school vandalized by graffiti
Officials with Chinook’s Edge School Division say RCMP are investigating an incident of graffiti vandalism to one of its schools recently.
Superintendent Kurt Sacher confirms the vandalism took place at École Steffie Woima Elementary School in Sylvan Lake, likely sometime over the past weekend.
He admits it’s always unfortunate when something like this happens.
“We have a pretty standard response plan whenever there’s graffiti on a school and it does happen in different communities from time to time unfortunately,” he explains. “We have our maintenance guys get out there as quickly as possible and they take off what they can. In some cases, as is the case at Steffie Woima, with some of the graffiti we need to bring in an external company who has to take it off and so it’s just taken us a few days to get that arranged but it will be off by the end of the week.”
