Red Deer RCMP want to speak with more of the witnesses to a stabbing that took place the afternoon of Feb. 3 at Superstore.

Alberta RCMP spokesperson, Cpl. Troy Savinkoff, confirms an altercation took place in one of the store’s aisles around 12:20 p.m.

Involved were the 23-year-old female victim, and two others believed to be one male suspect and one female suspect.

The victim was taken to hospital in Edmonton, and is said to be in critical but stable condition.

The type of weapon has not yet been confirmed, says Savinkoff, and at this time, other than speaking to witnesses, no public assistance is needed.

RCMP have already interviewed a number of witnesses, he confirms.

He adds there is no reason to believe there is any further risk to the public.

Savinkoff says the store did not need to be evacuated.

An update will be provided if/when more information becomes available.
