Red Deer’s future permanent shelter to be discussed with public Tuesday
Red Deer’s city council will be discussing the future permanent shelter at a special meeting scheduled for this Tuesday.
The City says as the location of the future shelter has been a topic of discussion by the community for quite some time, council will meet on January 31 to discuss next steps.
Officials confirm the special council meeting will start at 12:30 p.m. at city council chambers with shelter being the only item on the agenda. There will be an in-camera portion of the meeting for an estimated three hours before the meeting reopens to the public.
On October 11, 2022, city council approved a location to recommend to the Province of Alberta. Since that time, officials say negotiations have been underway with the landowner and the City says they now have more information from the Province to be able to talk about next steps and about sharing information with the community.
