Over 20 central Albertans receive Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee Medal

A total of 21 central Albertans were awarded the Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee Medal on Tuesday night.

Two private ceremonies were held for the recipients at the Alberta Sports Hall of Fame (102-4200 Queen Elizabeth II Highway), hosted by MLA for Red Deer-South Jason Stephan.

Nominated by members of the community, the medal recognized 7,000 Albertans in 2022 who made significant contributions to the province.

On January 18, the following central Albertans were awarded:

  • Michelle Parker
  • Guy Pelletier
  • Queen Schaerer
  • Savvannah Snow
  • Bruce Thorne
  • Lynn Van Laar
  • Milt Williams

The medal was created last year to mark the 70th anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II’s accession to the Throne as Queen of Canada on February 6, 1952.
