This Week in Red Deer Polytechnic Athletics
It is another full week inside RDP Athletics as the teams push towards making championships, each weekend until the end of February.
Friday features just two matches in Red Deer but Saturday will have basketball and Kings hockey going from 6-10 p.m. The week starts out with volleyball as the Kings and Queens play host to the Ambrose University Lions before travelling out to Calgary for a rematch on the Saturday. The Queens play at 6 p.m. and the Kings at 8 p.m. for both matches.
During these two matches, RDP Athletics will be taking part in the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) Make Some Noise for Mental Health event. “Come on out, make some noise and support these student-athletes in what can be a very difficult time,” said RDP officials in a release. The institution says the RDP Athletics website can be visited daily as there will be a Q&A with an athlete from every team to help raise awareness and end the stigma around mental health.
The basketball teams will be away to start the weekend in Calgary as they take on the Lions before heading home for a rematch on Saturday. The games are at 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. both days.
