Red Deer rental rates much higher than a year ago

Although one bedroom rental accommodations saw modest increases, on average, in Red Deer last month, rental rates remain much higher when compared to the same month last year.

According to the latest national rent report from rentals.ca, the average rent for a one bedroom unit in Red Deer last month was $1,029 per month, placing Red Deer at 33rd on the list of 35 Canadian cities included in the report.

That rate is 1.1 per cent higher than the average rental rate seen in November in Red Deer, and 13.8 per cent higher than December 2021.

The average rent for a two bedroom unit in Red Deer last month was $1,228 per month, down 0.4 per cent from November but up 12.4 per cent from December 2021.

Elsewhere in Alberta, Calgary placed 25th on the list with an average rent of $1,473 per month for a one bedroom unit, and $1,860 per month for a two bedroom place.

Lethbridge placed 27th on the list with an average rent of $1,208 per month for a one bedroom unit and $1,409 per month for a two bedroom rental.

Edmonton placed 30th on the list with an average rent of $1,110 per month for a one bedroom unit and $1,424 per month for a two bedroom.

Grande Prairie placed 34th on the list with an average rent of $985 per month for a one bedroom unit and $1,146 per month for a two bedroom place.

Lloydminster, AB, placed 35th on the list with an average rent of $835 per month for a one bedroom unit and $1,011 per month for a two bedroom rental.

Vancouver topped the list, as always, with an average rent of $2,633 per month for a one bedroom unit and $3,598 per month for a two bedroom residence.
