Town of Penhold awarded federal funding for trail development
The Town of Penhold has announced they will be developing their trail system with new funding awarded by the Government of Canada.
Town officials say they received notice from The Honourable Dominic LeBlanc, Minister of Intergovernmental Affairs, Infrastructure and Communities Canada, advising the federal government will partner with Penhold to increase their active transportation routes.
Through the federal government’s Active Transportation Fund (ATF), the Town says they will do an estimated $1.53 million project of which $915,077, or 60 per cent, will be federally supported.
“This funding will focus on connectivity and expansion of trails in town including a footbridge, crosswalks, lighting, boat dock and aeration system within the ponds by the Penhold Regional Multiplex,” said Penhold Mayor Mike Yargeau.
