After 13 years of dedicated service with A Better World, Director of Operations Julie Stegmaier has retired.

Based out of Lacombe, the international development organization has completed various humanitarian projects in more than 15 countries over the past 32 years, in education, healthcare, and clean water systems, with the goal of breaking the cycle of poverty.

According to Eric Rajah, Co-Founder and Executive Director, Stegmaier’s first connection with A Better World was when she travelled to Kenya on a humanitarian trip in 2009.

She says she returned knowing she wanted to be more involved and started volunteering for a few hours a day. The work quickly progressed to a full-time position.

“I am now looking forward to retiring and being able to travel and spend more time with my family,” she said. “I am thankful for all the wonderful people I have met along the way and the incredible memories made. It has been a privilege to work alongside Eric and all the A Better World team in this amazing organization.”

“Her ready smile and ever-helpful attitude will be missed by our staff, donors and volunteers alike. We wish Julie a peaceful and enjoyable retirement,” Rajah said in a release.
