Significant rise in Red Deer rental rates year over year

Average rents in Red Deer last month were up significantly when compared to the same month last year.

According to the latest National Rent Report from Rentals.ca, the average rental price for a one-bedroom unit in Red Deer in November was $1,029 per month, placing Red Deer at 33rd on the list of 35 Canadian cities included in this month’s report.

That rental cost is up 1.1 per cent from October but up 13.8 per cent from November 2021.

For a two-bedroom unit, the average rental price in Red Deer last month was $1,228 per month, down 0.4 per cent from October but up 12.4 per cent from November 2021.

Elsewhere in Alberta, Calgary placed 25th on the list, with an average rent of $1,473 per month for a one-bedroom unit, and $1,860 per month for a two-bedroom.

Lethbridge placed 27th on the list, with an average rent of $1,208 per month for a one-bedroom unit, and $1,409 per month for a two-bedroom place.

Edmonton placed 30th on the list with an average rent of $1,110 per month, while a two-bedroom rented for an average of $1,424.

Grande Prairie was 34th on the list, right behind Red Deer, with an average rent of $985 per month, while a two-bedroom rented for an average of $1,146.

Lloydminster, AB, rounded out the list at the number 35 spot, reporting an average rent of $835 per month in November, while a two-bedroom rented for an average of $1,011.

Vancouver topped the list with an average rent of $2,633 per month for a one-bedroom unit in November, while a two-bedroom rented for an average of $3,598 per month.
