Downtown Business Association says area successful in 2022 with 131 events hosted
Red Deer’s Downtown Business Association (DBA) said 2022 was a successful year for the area, sharing plans to bring even more events in 2023.
City council approved the DBA’s 2023 budget during Monday’s meeting. After three years of no increase to the annual Business Improvement Area (BIA) levy, there will now be a 4.9 per cent increase, translating to $12,500 in added revenue for a total of $264,500.
In 2022, the DBA says the team of just 2.5 people were able to host 131 events including weekly markets, live music, themed gatherings, Frost Street Patio in the winter and more.
In their 2023-25 Strategic Plan, they say they want to increase those events to 250 per year.
