Collisions Now Cleared

Ponoka, Red Deer, and Blackfalds RCMP on-scene with multiple collisions on QEII Highway near Red Deer

UPDATE:

4:05 p.m. – RCMP advise that the QE II is now clear and normal traffic flow has resumed. Road conditions remain poor and motorists are advised to take precautions.

Alberta RCMP Detachment and Traffic Units from Ponoka, Red Deer, and Blackfalds are currently on-scene of multiple reported collisions on the QEII Highway in the areas of the Highway 11 and Highway 11a overpasses near Red Deer.

Currently, all reported collisions are in the Northbound lanes which is currently not passable, say local Mounties. RCMP are also receiving reports of collisions on other area secondary Highways.

There have been no serious injuries reported at this time.

RCMP are asking motorists to avoid travel in the area and if travel is necessary drive with extreme caution.
