A trial date has been scheduled for a Rimbey, AB man charged in a homicide in Brazeau County this fall.

Shane Allen Marshall, 37, is scheduled for trial in Red Deer provincial court on Jan. 17, 2023, on one count of threats cause death/bodily harm. He also faces one count of second-degree murder in which he is scheduled for plea in Breton provincial court on Dec. 14, 2022.

It was on Oct. 17, 2022, when Breton RCMP received a report requesting a welfare check on a male at a rural property in Brazeau County. Upon arrival, officers spoke to and arrested a male on outstanding warrants.

After conducting a search of the property, RCMP located a deceased male. The Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit was called to investigate.

The deceased was identified as 67-year-old Robert Charles Marshall, a resident of Brazeau County.

On Oct. 19, 2022, Mounties say an autopsy was conducted by the medical examiner who determined the manner of death to be homicide.

As a result of the investigation, RCMP initially charged Shane Allen Marshall with second degree murder.
