Crash on QEII near Carstairs claims life of Red Deerian

A Red Deer resident has died in a crash early Saturday morning on the QEII Highway.

RCMP say it was about 6:13 when members from Didsbury received a report of a collision between a pedestrian and a vehicle in the southbound lanes, just north of Highway 581 near Carstairs.

Upon arrival, emergency crews located a deceased male who’d been hit by a vehicle which remained on scene.

The deceased has been identified as a 25-year-old from Red Deer.

Officers remained on scene while a traffic analyst attended to assist with the investigation. At approximately 10:30 a.m., regular traffic flow resumed.
