Red Deer region unemployment rate rises in October
The Red Deer region’s unemployment rate rose one per cent from September to October.
That according to the latest Labour Force Survey from Statistics Canada which shows a jobless rate of 5.5 per cent in the Red Deer region last month. That’s up from 4.5 per cent in September, but still down from 7.8 per cent in October 2021.
Elsewhere, the Lethbridge-Medicine Hat region had an unemployment rate of 3.3 per cent last month, which compares to 4.9 per cent in the Edmonton region, 5.6 per cent in both the Calgary and Camrose-Drumheller regions, and 5.7 per cent in both the Wood Buffalo-Cold Lake, and Banff-Jasper-Rocky Mountain House and Athabasca-Grande Prairie-Peace River regions.
Alberta’s unemployment rate was 5.2 per cent in October, down from 5.5 per cent the month before and 7.8 per cent the same month last year.
