RCMP accuse Consort man of ramming vehicle and coming at police with an axe and knife
A 37-year-old man from Consort is facing charges after an incident in east-central Alberta on Oct. 25.
It was 7:40 p.m. that day, RCMP say, when a male attended the Consort RCMP detachment following an interaction with police earlier that day.
The male had allegedly rammed a parked police vehicle with his own, and then took a hatchet to windows in an attempt to enter the detachment. Police say he was telling police to shoot him, and that he had advised he had a handgun in his pocket.
Consort, Coronation, Hanna, Provost and Oyen RCMP, along with Lethbridge/Calgary/Red Deer Dog Service, Eastern Alberta Crime Reduction Unit, and Calgary RCMP Emergency Response Team, were deployed, along with Helicopter Air Watch for Community Safety HAWCS (Calgary Police Service).
