Innisfail RCMP to hold public forum

Oct 25, 2022 | 10:57 AM

UPDATE:

Nov. 1, 2022 – RCMP say the purpose of this public forum is to identify potential policing issues and set Innisfail RCMP’s operation plans to meet those concerns in the coming year.

Therefore, a representative from the National Police Federation will not be conducting a presentation on the Government of Alberta’s proposed provincial police service as part of this town hall.

With in-person community engagement identified as a strategic priority for Innisfaiil RCMP this year, a public engagement session is scheduled to take place next month.

Mounties say the November 15, 2022, evening event will be in collaboration with the Town of Innisfail’s Fire & Protective Services Department.

Police say this is the second community engagement jointly hosted by the Town and the RCMP. Along with updates on local policing efforts in the community, a representative from the National Police Federation will also provide a presentation on the Government of Alberta’s proposed provincial police service.

“These meetings are an excellent opportunity for people to let us know their concerns. It also gives us a chance to identify potential issues that have not been brought to our attention,” said Gary Leith, Manager of Fire & Protective Services for the Town of Innisfail.

The event will provide valuable information for the audience as well.

“This event will give people a chance to learn about the government’s proposed changes to police services in the province,” added Sgt. Ian Ihme, Acting Detachment Commander of the Innisfail RCMP.
