The following is an official statement from Alberta Municipalities’ Board of Directors:

“Alberta Municipalities (ABmunis) thanks Minister of Municipal Affairs Ric McIver for having been approachable, collaborative, and supportive over the past 19 months. We truly appreciated his candor and no-nonsense approach to making life better for Albertans. We wish him continued success as the MLA for Calgary-Hays.”

“Our association congratulates MLA Rebecca Schulz on today’s appointment to Minister of Municipal Affairs. Our members had a chance to hear her speak at last month’s ABmunis Convention at the UCP Leadership Contestants’ Forum. They were encouraged by much of what she had to say.”

“We hope Minister Schulz will work with us to secure stable, predictable and adequate long-term funding from the provincial government for Alberta’s local governments. We also hope she will push for a public safety task force and support a full recovery-oriented continuum of care to address mental health and addictions.”

“We trust she will collaborate and consult with municipalities and key stakeholders like us. We look forward to those sometimes tough but constructive conversations.”
