Daily maximum temperature records unofficially broken in parts of central Alberta

A number of communities across the province including some in central Alberta, either set or tied daily maximum temperature records on Monday.

According to Environment and Climate Change Canada, the Breton area unofficially set a new record high of 25.9 degrees Celsius for October 17, beating the old record of 24. 2 degrees Celsius set in 2018. Records in this area have been kept since 1939.

In Rocky Mountain House, a new record high of 24.0 degrees Celsius was reached on Oct. 17, surpassing the old record of 23.9 degrees set back in 1929. Records in this area have been kept since 1915.

In the Nordegg area, a new record high of 24.6 degrees Celsius was reached on Oct. 17, beating the old record of 23.5 set in 2015. Records in this area have been kept since 1915.
