Construction to begin at Riverbend Drive culvert, and continue downtown

Motorists and pedestrians are advised of traffic disruptions in downtown Red Deer next week as crews work to wrap up construction season.

The current closure on 49 Street between 51 Avenue and 49 Avenue is now expected to be in place until Friday, October 14.

From 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Tuesday, October 11, 48 Street will be closed between 48 Avenue and 49 Avenue.

Starting at 7 a.m. on Tuesday, October 11, 47 Avenue will be closed between 45 Street and 46 Street until 4 p.m. on Wednesday, October 12.

Signs will be in place to notify motorists of all traffic disruptions. Drivers are reminded to slow down and obey all signs when driving in construction zones. Pedestrians are reminded to cross only at designated crosswalks.

The City of Red Deer is replacing a bridge culvert near the boat launch close to Riverbend Drive.

Construction will begin on Tuesday, October 11 and is expected to last approximately four weeks. During construction, the picnic area, boat launch and upper and lower parking lots will be closed to the public. The perimeter trail travelling over the culvert will also be closed with a detour in place.

Signs will be in place to notify drivers and pedestrians of the closures. Users are reminded to slow down and obey all signs in construction zones.
