Lacombe officially opens Fish & Fetch park

Oct 1, 2022 | 10:39 AM

The City of Lacombe held a grand opening this week to celebrate a recently agreed upon corporate partnership for a local fishing hole.

It was in April, The City says, that Vesta Energy signed on for naming rights to the Eastside Recreation Area.

It will henceforth be known as the Vesta Energy Fish & Fetch Park.

The agreement is for seven-years at $17,500 per year, with an option to renew.

“Lacombe city council is excited to have a proven local business like Vesta Energy take on the naming rights for the Eastside Recreation Area,” Mayor Grant Creasey said. “Vesta’s commitment to their local community is to be commended, and I know Lacombe dog owners, fish and game enthusiasts, and outdoor lovers of all kinds will enjoy the Vesta Energy Fish & Fetch Park for years to come.”

Mark Lansing, VP HSE and Sustainability, Vesta, says the company is thrilled.

“Supporting the development of community outdoor activity space fits perfectly with our sponsorship platform that is targeted to support and enrich the local communities in which we operate,” he says. “We look forward to the use of Lacombe’s latest recreational area, the Vesta Energy Fish & Fetch Park.”

The park is already in operation with a fully-fenced dog park including agility equipment, solar lighting, potable water, dedicated parking and a small dog area.

Adjacent to the new dog park, the Lacombe Fish & Game Association has improved the west fishpond area, including a new aerator, casting docks, and a pedestrian bridge that improves overall access and functionality throughout the park.
