Queens Soccer | Saturday, September 24 | Red Deer Polytechnic Main Field

The Red Deer Polytechnic Queens soundly defeated the Medicine Hat College Rattlers 14-1. North Star Sports Queens Player of the Game Sein Furuyama contributed six goals and two assists in the home win, retaining her spot as the goal scoring leader in Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) Women’s Soccer. Red Deer’s Corbynn Fujimoto and Lacombe’s Jenica Swartz scored two goals each. Grace Smith, Estel Quinteros, Alisha Coules and Jaden Humphrey added singles.

The second place Red Deer Polytechnic Queens (4-1-0) downed the third seed Lethbridge College Kodiaks (3-2-1) by a 5-1 margin. Japan’s Furuyama, an Academic Upgrading student, scored two goals – her 15th and 16th of the season. Smith, the North Star Sports Queens Player of Game, along with Fujimoto and Paige Kalbfleisch added one goal each.

The Red Deer Polytechnic Kings got by the Medicine Hat College Rattlers 4-2 at home. Cristobal Lisboa Tapia, Turner Johnson, Jaeden Swartz and Grant Johnson recorded goals for the Kings. Ajdin Sarcevic, a Business Administration General student, earned the North Star Sports Kings Player of the Game award, contributing two assists.

The second place Red Deer Polytechnic Kings (2-1-1) and third seed Lethbridge College Kodiaks (1-1-3) played to a 2-2 draw. Grant Johnson and Ajdin Sarcevic recorded goals for the Polytechnic. Kings goalkeeper Jared St. Thomas made four saves. Ashton Chipman, a first-year Bachelor of Science student, was selected the North Star Sports Kings Player of the Game.
