Peterman and Team Lawes make it to semi-final at PointsBet Invitational

Red Deer curler Jocelyn Peterman and her teammates from Manitoba-based, Team Kaitlyn Lawes, were defeated in Saturday’s semi-final at the 2022 PointsBet Invitational held at Willie O’Ree Place in Fredericton, NB last week.

Peterman, who played second, along with lead Kristin MacCuish, third Selena Njegovan, and skip Kaitlyn Lawes, lost 8-7 to Team Scheidegger in the tournament’s fourth draw on Saturday. Scheidegger’s Lethbridge team, however, would eventually lose 7-4 to Team Jones in Draw 5 on Sunday.

To win the 2022 PointsBet Invitational, teams must string together four wins in a row. That feat turned out to be no problem for women’s champion Team Jennifer Jones; its winning streak now going beyond the event held last week.

The No. 5 seeded Team Jennifer Jones (Winnipeg/Altona, Man.) extended its winning streak to 12 games after defeating No. 6 seed Team Casey Scheidegger in the women’s final at the PointsBet Invitational.

With the win, Jones, third Karlee Burgess, second/vice-skip Mackenzie Zacharias, lead Lauren Lenentine and alternate Emily Zacharias pocketed a $50,000 payday for winning the event.
