50/50 ENDS SEPT. 30

Sexual assault support centre silent auction ends tonight

Sep 14, 2022 | 12:14 PM

Time has been extended to help support a 50/50 and silent auction benefiting the Central Alberta Sexual Assault Support Centre (CASASC).

The dates were extended as CASASC’s poker rally event with UBAKA at the end of August was rained out.

  • The silent auction runs until 9 p.m. on Sept. 14 (tonight) HERE.
  • The 50/50 runs until Sept. 30 HERE.

All proceeds, with a goal of about $200,000, go towards the purchase and operation of a new Mobile Support Centre to support clients outside of Red Deer.

CASASC Educator Lara Alhmidat says the intended goal is to make accessing services easier.

“The idea is to have an RV that can travel around with a therapist and other service providers to serve our rural and remote clients who can’t make it to Red Deer,” says Alhmidat.

“We have free services for all central Albertans, so we want to lessen the barriers between those services and our clients who are in need.”

More information about the Central Alberta Sexual Assault Support Centre, which is also preparing for the financial cost of a relocation, is at casasc.ca.

If you are in need of help, text or call their 24-hour support line at 1-866-956-1099, or visit their website for an online chat service.
