BLACK AND WHITE GAME

2022 Training Camp wraps up Wednesday, Sept. 7 with the Black and White Game at 7 p.m. at the Peavey Mart Centrium. Fans are invited to attend with admission being a donation for the Red Deer Firefighters Children’s Charity.

GARAGE SALE AND OPEN HOUSE

Also during the Black and White Game on Sept. 7, Rebels fans can check out a Garage Sale featuring Rebels equipment and apparel from years past, and an Open House to check out what Season Seats and 9-Game Packs are available for the 2022-23 season.

SINGLE-GAME TICKETS

Single-game tickets for 2022 WHL Regular Season games at the Peavey Mart Centrium go on sale starting Thursday, Sept. 1. Visit reddeerrebels.com or ticketsalberta.com for details.

PRESEASON

The Rebels will play four games during the 2022 WHL Preseason. The Rebels visit the Calgary Hitmen on Friday, Sept. 9 before welcoming the Hitmen to the Peavey Mart Centrium the following night, Sat. Sept. 10 at 7 p.m.

Then on Friday, Sept. 16 the Rebels will visit the Lethbridge Hurricanes before hosting the Hurricanes at the Peavey Mart Centrium on Sat. Sept. 17 at 7 p.m.

Tickets for all games are available through Tickets Alberta.

HOME OPENER

Regular season play kicks off for the Rebels on Friday, Sept. 23 when they visit the Edmonton Oil Kings (7 p.m.). The Rebels will then host the Oil Kings for the home opener at the Peavey Mart Centrium on Saturday, Sept. 24 at 7 p.m.

More details will be announced in the coming weeks.

OFF-SEASON RECAP

It was another busy and exciting off-season for the Red Deer Rebels. Here are some of the highlights:

– After leading the WHL with 52 goals last season, Rebels centre Ben King was selected by the Anaheim Ducks in round four of the 2022 NHL Draft in Montreal in July

– Four Rebels players attended NHL Development Camps: King (Anaheim), Jace Weir (Vegas), Christoffer Sedoff (Calgary), Jayden Grubbe (NY Rangers)

– Rebels forward Kalan Lind won gold as a member of Team Canada at the Hlinka Gretzky Cup tournament played at the Peavey Mart Centrium in early August

– Building on the success the team experienced last season, the Rebels made several key acquisitions to bolster their roster:

• Aug 29 – Acquired 18-year-old defenceman Mats Lindgren from the Kamloops Blazers
• Aug 9 – Acquired 19-year-old forward Craig Armstrong from the Prince George Cougars
• July 26 – Signed 16-year-old Czech defenceman Vojtech Port, selected at the 2022 CHL Import Draft
• July 20 – Acquired 20-year-old defenceman Tanner Brown from the Winnipeg ICE
• May 19 – Acquired 18-year-old goaltender Kyle Kelsey form the Moose Jaw Warriors
