Two trials scheduled for Red Deer woman charged in missing Grande Prairie man’s death

Two separate trials have been scheduled for a Red Deer woman charged in the death of a missing Grande Prairie man last year.

Brianna Ruf-Dietz, 32, is scheduled for a trial in Red Deer provincial court on Nov. 17, 2022 on one count of threats causing death/bodily harm in relation to an incident on March 9, 2021.

She is also scheduled for a jury trial from June 12-23, 2023 in Wetaskiwin Court of Queen’s Bench on one count of first/second-degree murder in relation to an incident on Jan. 12 and 13, 2021.

Alberta RCMP Major Crimes, along with the assistance of Maskwacis RCMP and the Edmonton Police Service (EPS), arrested Ruf-Dietz in Edmonton on Oct. 12, 2021.

Maskwacis RCMP say she was arrested following the results of an autopsy in March of last year, in which Alberta RCMP Major Crimes identified human remains as belonging to missing person, Tyler Johnson, a 26-year-old male from Grande Prairie.

Johnson’s remains were found on Mar. 8, 2021, in a house that was recently burned to the ground near Maskwacis.

According to EPS, Johnson had been missing since Jan. 12, 2021, and his disappearance was considered out of character.
