“Ride for Dad” this Saturday for prostate cancer research
Roughly 1 in 8 Canadian men will develop prostate cancer during their lifetime, according to the most recent data by the Canadian Cancer Society.
Red Deer will be hosting its fourth Motorcycle Ride for Dad fundraising event for prostate cancer research this Saturday, August 13.
“Cancer is indiscriminate. It doesn’t matter race, age, nationality, anything like that. It’s one of those things that nobody wants to talk about but at the end of the day, if we can save one man’s life, we’ve done a good thing”, said Co-Chair Al Nicks.
Beginning at 7 a.m., the event will start with a pancake breakfast at Turple Brothers motorsports store in Gasoline Alley (175 Leva Ave.). At 9 a.m., riders will take a scenic route northwest towards Pigeon Lake and wind up back at Poplar Ridge Hall (Range Rd 283) in Red Deer County for a silent auction, gifts, and prizes which will be open to the public.
