RCMP share further details of fatal crash near Ponoka

RCMP have shared that the person who died in a crash west of Ponoka on July 25 was a 34-year-old man from Ponoka.

Cpl. Troy Savinkoff with Alberta RCMP says preliminary investigation shows that a Dodge Ram truck, headed westbound, did not maintain its lane. It then struck an eastbound tractor trailer which was hauling a very heavy load.

The driver of the semi was unharmed. There are no charges pending.

The crash took place at around 3 p.m. on Monday along Highway 53, between Range Roads 271 and 272.

Alcohol and weather have been ruled out as factors in the collision.
