Ponoka RCMP advise Highway 53 between Range Road 271 and 272 is passable in both directions.

Motorists are no longer asked to avoid the area.

Ponoka RCMP, Fire and EMS are currently on the scene of a fatal collision on Highway 53, between Range Road 271 and 272.

Mounties say the road is impassable in both directions and one person is confirmed deceased.

RCMP ask motorists to avoid the area.

Police say an update will be provided once the highway has reopened.
