12-Month Peace Bond

Charges withdrawn against Red Deer RCMP officer accused of assault

Jul 22, 2022 | 1:20 PM

rdnewsNOW wishes to correct a news article about a current Red Deer RCMP officer.

A Red Deer RCMP officer charged with assault in three separate off-duty incidents last year has had all three counts against him withdrawn.

This, after Brandon William Smith, 43, voluntarily entered a 12-month peace bond in Red Deer provincial court last week.

Superintendent Holly Glassford, Officer in Charge (OIC) at Red Deer RCMP detachment, confirms Smith is an active member at the detachment, but remains on administrative duties, pending the outcome of the RCMP’s internal investigations.
