Rental rates rising in Red Deer but still among lowest in Canada

With rising inflation and the cost of living continuing to increase, it seems rental rates in Red Deer are no exception.

According to the latest National Rental Report from Rentals.ca, the average rent for a one-bedroom unit in Red Deer last month was $1,052 per month, up 6.48 per cent from May and 12.75 per cent from June 2021. This places Red Deer at 33 on the list of 35 Canadian cities included in the report.

The average rent for a two-bedroom unit in Red Deer, meanwhile, was $1,183 per month in June, up 3.14 per cent from May and 10.05 per cent from the same month last year.

Elsewhere throughout the province, Calgary placed 25th on the list with an average rent of $1,562 per month for a one-bedroom unit in June, and $1,925 per month for a two-bedroom unit.

Lethbridge placed 32nd on the list with an average rent of $1,054 per month for a one-bedroom unit in June, and $1,173 per month for a two-bedroom place.

Edmonton placed 34th on the list, with an average rent of $1,032 per month for a one-bedroom unit in June, and $1,293 per month for a two-bedroom unit.

Vancouver topped the list with the most expensive rents in Canada. A one-bedroom unit in that city rented for an average of $2,412 per month in June, while a two-bedroom rented for an average of $3,597.
