Jul 14, 2022 | 3:56 PM

A trial date has been set for a man charged in multiple local property crime investigations.

Described by police as a repeat offender, Zacharias Paradoski, 35, is scheduled for trial in Red Deer provincial court on Oct. 4, 2022.

Paradoski faces 18 charges in relation to a string of break and enter and stolen vehicle incidents earlier this year.

Police say Paradoski was first connected to a string of break and enters the morning of March 21, 2022, between 2:30 and 5:30 a.m., where six properties were broken into in southeast Red Deer. Surveillance footage was confirmed to have seen the suspect using a Ford F350 pickup truck which had been reported as stolen.

On March 22, Red Deer RCMP responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle in the parking lot of a multi-family residential building on Cosgrove Crescent. Once on scene, officers say they identified the same Ford F350 from the night before. In the truck, officers reported finding stolen property from the events the day prior. Officers arrested Paradoski on scene for breaking and entering, as well as possession of stolen property. Paradoski was released pending completion of the investigation, and warrants were later issued for his arrest.

On June 3, Red Deer RCMP responded to a report of an abandoned vehicle in an underground parkade. Surveillance footage showed a grey Ford EcoSport had been abandoned in the parkade by a male suspect who was later identified by Mounties as Paradoski. The vehicle was confirmed stolen out of Lacombe and had a stolen licence plate from Rocky Mountain House.

On June 16, Rimbey RCMP responded to a report of multiple vehicles stolen from a business. An RCMP investigation connected Paradoski to this incident

On June 21, Red Deer RCMP allege to have observed Paradoski in a stolen vehicle heading to Red Deer. With assistance from K-Division’s Air Services, Emergency Response teams, Red Deer’s Police Dog Services, GIS, CRT and General Duty teams, police confirm they conducted surveillance on Paradoski to a known residence in Red Deer, where he was apprehended after attempting to flee on foot.

Stemming from these events, Paradoski has been charged with:

  • Breaking and entering with intent (x4)
  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000 (x4)
  • Possession of property obtained by crime not more than $5,000 (x3)
