“Olive the Jazz” tonight in Red Deer

If you can’t wait for the Jazz at the Lake festival in Sylvan Lake this summer, then you can temporarily satisfy your craving at “Olive the Jazz” in Red Deer this Thursday night.

From 8-10 p.m. on July 7, The Cheryl Fisher Trio will be playing at The Velvet Olive (4928C 50 St.).

According to Jazz at the Lake, Fisher was named by the Montreal Jazz Festival as “one of the greatest female singers in the history of Canadian Jazz.” A composer and lyricist, they say she has a Bachelor’s Degree in Education from the University of Calgary and earned her Master’s Degree in Jazz Vocal Performance at the University of Miami, where she later became a teacher.

The Trio will feature Eric Allison on saxophone and flute and Morgan McKee on keyboards.
