Red Deer’s ‘Meet Me At The Park’ returns this summer

Jul 4, 2022 | 2:36 PM

Red Deer’s ‘Meet Me at the Park’ returns on July 4 with activities for all ages.

With the first stop in Bower at 85 Boyce Street, drop-in activities will be offered for free from 9:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. Monday to Friday.

“We know that during the pandemic, many residents felt disconnected from their neighbours,” said PJ Swales, Sport and Recreation Coordinator with The City. “’Meet Me at the Park’ provides an opportunity for residents to get out and reconnect with each other in a safe and fun way.”

The City says activities offered will vary from site to site based on the amenities available and will include a variety of options for unstructured, creative play. Activities may change based on community interests and may include:

  • Circuit courses, obstacle course
  • Scavenger hunts
  • Soccer/basketball/tennis/pickleball/badminton/baseball
  • Block party games
  • Arts and crafts

“We want residents to come and have fun, but we need to keep some things in mind,” said Swales. “The event is rain or shine so residents need to dress for the weather and remember sunblock and water bottles.”

The 2022 schedule is as follows:

  • July 4-8: Bower Activity Centre (85 Boyce Street)
  • July 11-15: Rosedale Activity Centre (2 Roland Street)
  • July 18-22: Oriole Park Activity Centre (5 Ogden Avenue)
  • July 25-29: Mountview/Sunnybrook Activity Centre (4316 – 32 Street)
  • Aug. 2-5: Pines Activity Centre ( 141 Pamely Avenue)
  • Aug. 8-12: Kentwood West Neighbourhood Park (168 Kendrew Drive)
  • Aug. 15-19: Clearview Meadows Activity Centre (93 Cornett Drive)
  • Aug. 22-26: West Park Activity Centre (3811 – 57 Avenue)
