Red Deer RCMP bring back Coffee With A Cop this summer
Red Deer RCMP are bringing back their Coffee with a Cop program this summer – but with a new twist. Community members are invited to meet with RCMP officers to discuss their crime and community safety concerns starting in July. New to program, Mayor Ken Johnston will also be joining Superintendent Holly Glassford and members of Community Policing to meet with the community.
“One of the new policing priorities identified in the 2022-24 Annual Policing Plan (APP) is to focus on engaging our community,” says Superintendent Holly Glassford, Red Deer RCMP Officer in Charge. “These meetings help us strengthen relationships with the community and I am pleased to have Mayor Johnston joining us in making these connections.”
The Coffee with a Cop program is a community policing initiative that offers one-on-one interactions between officers and the community in a casual environment. Starting the first week of July, residents are invited to take the opportunity to sit down with an officer, ask questions, discuss concerns, and get to know their local police.
“I look forward to joining RCMP to speak with Red Deerians about what their concerns and goals are for our community,” said Mayor Ken Johnston. “I am grateful for the opportunity and am excited for the great conversations to be had.”
