Normal temperature and precipitation amounts forecast for central Alberta this summer
June 21 marks the first official day of summer and central Albertans can expect a fairly normal one for weather this year.
That according to Brian Proctor, Meteorologist with Environment and Climate Change Canada, who acknowledges a bit of a slow start to spring and summer type weather this season.
“It is trending to a weakening La Nina at this point in time out in the Pacific, and that’s sort of indicating things are going to be moving more towards normal type conditions that we typically would expect at this time of year for central Alberta,” he explains. “Once we get passed the June cold low season that we typically experience, we get shower and thunderstorm activity more than anything else, but don’t tend to see a lot of wide-spread rainfall events in the months July, August and early September.”
“So we generally expect sort of typical seasonal conditions from a precipitation point of view,” adds Proctor.
