Olds RCMP seek help to identify two people of interest in drive-by shooting

Olds RCMP are asking for the public’s help in identifying two people and a vehicle of interest involved in a drive by shooting this month.

According to Mounties, the incident occurred on Wednesday May 11, 2022, along the QEII Highway between Hwy 582 (Didsbury overpass) and Hwy 27 (Olds overpass).

Police says their preliminary investigation has determined that at approximately 7:00 p.m. that evening, the suspect and victim vehicles were driving north bound along the QEII in the right lane. The suspect vehicle accelerated to overtake the victim vehicle and pulled alongside them in the left hand lane.

While the vehicles were beside each other, police say a firearm was pointed from the suspect vehicle at the victim, with multiple rounds discharged at the victim’s vehicle.

With the assistance of the RCMP Forensic Identification Services (FIS), evidence has been recovered from the victim’s vehicle. Olds RCMP are now asking for the public’s assistance and would like to speak with anyone who was in the area that witnessed this occurrence or has any information that could assist police with the investigation.

The male person of interest, and driver of the vehicle, is described as a Caucasian male in his mid to late 20’s, with a short black beard and wearing a black baseball cap. The passenger of the vehicle is described as a female with dark hair. The vehicle, meanwhile, is described as a grey/ black or dark grey two-door sports car.

Olds RCMP are also requesting dashboard camera footage from anyone traveling on the QEII north between Hwy 582 and Hwy 27 on Wednesday May 11, 2022 between the hours of 6:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m.
