UCP leadership review results to be announced Wednesday
Officials say the United Conservative Party has completed the verification stage of its leadership review process and will begin counting ballots on Wednesday.
“Hundreds of Party volunteers on all sides of the question helped to verify the eligibility of each voter and maintain a secure and transparent process,” said Rick Orman, Chief Returning Officer, in a press release. “We are extremely grateful to these individuals for helping us to finish this stage ahead of schedule.”
Sealed ballot envelopes are now being securely stored by Deloitte Canada until Wednesday May 18 when those envelopes will be opened by volunteers and the ballots inside of them removed and counted in front of Deloitte and scrutineers, say Party officials.
The UCP says it has worked diligently to maintain the security of the vote, with Deloitte hired to act as an independent advisor and impartial observer. UCP officials say Deloitte continues to work with the Party to ensure that the monitoring and verification processes follow all rules and procedures, while also safeguarding the security of the ballots.
