One person is facing charges after an incident in Ponoka County this past week.

RCMP say it was April 23 when they received a complaint about a suspicious person outside a rural residence in the county.

Upon arrival, members located the man hiding under a nearby vehicle, and he was subsequently arrested. RCMP then searched the man and the vehicle, locating:

· A 12 gauge shotgun

· A Radio Jammer

· A stolen licence plate

· Approximately 28 grams of suspected Methamphetamine

· Canadian currency

· Other items consistent with drug trafficking

Charged is a 26-year-old man from Calgary, who faces 20 counts relating to drug trafficking, possession of stolen property, weapons, and failing to comply with release conditions.

“This reported suspicious activity is yet another excellent example of our police officers and the members of the communities we serve working together towards the common goal of crime reduction in our area,” said sergeant Erin St-Cyr.

“This call made to police played a key role towards maintaining public safety by removing drugs, weapons and money related to criminal activities from the street. Public safety is a community issue and Ponoka detachment remains committed to making it our top priority by continuing to work alongside the community members we serve in order to help reduce crime.”
