Province aiming to create stronger communities in Alberta
Alberta’s government says it is assisting non-profits with core operations and investing in community projects across the province.
The Community Initiatives Program is providing $4.4 million in funding to organizations through two of its funding streams. These streams support social issues and create opportunities for Albertans to engage with their communities.
In the last application intake of the project-based stream, government officials say a total of $2.3 million is supporting 69 projects, including new or enhanced programs and community events. This funding can go to project needs such as new programming and event hosting costs, commercial-use vehicle purchases, website development, technology enhancements and marketing.
In the last intake of the operating stream, a total of $2.1 million is said to be supporting 34 non-profits working to deliver services to vulnerable and disadvantaged Albertans. This funding can go to core operations and organizational development activities.
