Red Deer rental rates edge lower in March, but still higher than last year

The city of Red Deer continues to have some of the lowest rental rates in the country, according to the latest National Rent Report from Rentals.ca.

On the list of 35 Canadian cities included in the March 2022 report, Red Deer placed 33rd on the list, with an average rent of $945 per month for a one bedroom unit. That’s down 3.08 per cent from February, but up 2.16 per cent from the same month last year.

A two-bedroom unit, meanwhile, rented for an average of $1,050 per month, down 1.32 per cent from February, but up 5.53 per cent from March 2021.

Elsewhere in Alberta, Calgary placed 26th on the list, with an average rent of $1,267 per month for a one-bedroom unit, and $1,514 per month for a two-bedroom.

Edmonton placed 29th on the list, with an average rent of $1,038 per month for a one-bedroom unit and $1,257 for a two-bedroom.

Lethbridge placed 30th on the list, with an average rent of $1,000 per month for a one-bedroom unit and $1,155 per month for a two-bedroom.

Grande Prairie placed 34th on the list, with an average rent of $883 per month for a one-bedroom unit and $1,084 for a two-bedroom.

Lloydminster, AB rounded out the list at number 35, with an average rent of $739 per month for a one-bedroom unit, and $851 per month for a two-bedroom.

Vancouver continues to top the list with an average rent of $2,239 per month for a one-bedroom unit in March, and an average of $3,050 per month for a two-bedroom place.
