United Way Central Alberta on search for new CEO as Brett Speight departs

Apr 14, 2022 | 2:09 PM

A new CEO is on the way for United Way Central Alberta (UWCA).

The organization announced April 14 that Brett Speight’s last day will be May 27, as he returns to the financial services industry in Saskatchewan.

“We are grateful for Brett’s leadership in developing a new strategic plan, modernizing our operations and stabilizing our financial position. We are sad to see Brett go but wish him and his wife the best in their new adventure,” says Doug Doran, UWCA president.

“During Brett’s tenure, he established a talented team that has been instrumental in positioning United Way Central Alberta for a successful future. While a leadership transition is never easy, the board is confident in the abilities of the staff and volunteers to deliver on our strategy and mission until a new chief executive officer is found.”

The search for said CEO will begin immediately, the organization says.

“It has been an honour leading such an important and impactful organization and working with the talented and passionate staff and volunteers as well as our generous supporters and agencies, I will miss everyone,” says Speight. “My goal when I started was to leave the organization better than I found it. I hope I have done that.”

Speight was at the helm for four years.
