Unemployment rate edges lower in Red Deer
The Red Deer region’s unemployment rate came in lower last month when compared to the month before.
According to the latest figures from Statistics Canada, the Red Deer region’s jobless rate in March was 6.9 per cent, down from 7.1 per cent in February and 10.2 per cent in March 2021.
Those numbers compare with an unemployment rate of 7.6 per cent in Calgary, 7.5 per cent in Edmonton, 6.1 per cent in Wood Buffalo-Cold Lake, 5.8 per cent in Camrose-Drumheller, 5.5 per cent in Lethbridge-Medicine Hat, and 5.3 per cent in Banff-Jasper-Rocky Mountain House and Athabasca-Grande Prairie-Peace River.
The provincial jobless rate came in at 6.5 per cent last month, down from 6.8 per cent in February, and 9.0 per cent in March 2021.
