One dead; two in hospital

Fatal house fire in Vegreville

A house fire broke out in Vegreville early Saturday morning leaving one person dead inside.

On April 2 at 01:10 a.m., Vegreville RCMP received a report of a house fire on 49 avenue in Vegreville.

Upon arrival, police say they located two house occupants outside the residence. Emergency crews were able to extinguish the blaze, however, one deceased person was located inside.

Officials confirm the two surviving occupants were transported by EMS to hospital with non life threatening injuries.

The residence is being held while fire investigators work with the RCMP, and the Office of the Chief Media Examiner to determine a cause of death and fire.
