Second arrest made in connection to attempted murder charges in Maskwacis area

UPDATE – APRIL 9, 2022

RCMP advise that on April 5, Christian Deschamps attended the Edmonton Police Service Downtown Division building and turned himself in on the outstanding arrest warrant outlined below.

Deschamps was remanded into custody, and is scheduled to appear in Wetaskiwin Provincial Court at a later date. Maskwacis RCMP thank the Edmonton Police Service and the public for their assistance.

Maskwacis RCMP are seeking public assistance to locate a man wanted for two charges of attempted murder.

On Feb. 26, 2022, at around 5 a.m. Wetaskiwin RCMP were dispatched to a local hospital where two males had been dropped off suffering from gunshot wounds.

Members were told that the shooting had taken place in the Louis Bull Tribe area of Maskwacis.

Two suspects were then identified, one of which remains at large.

On March 11, Kashton Bull, 22, of Louis Bull Tribe, was arrested and faces the following charges:

· Attempted murder (X2)

· Discharge of a firearm while being reckless

· Possession of a firearm knowing possession is unauthorized

· Breach of a firearms prohibition

· Fail to comply with a release order (X4)

He remains in custody and will appear next in Wetaskiwin provincial court on March 31.

Christian Deschamps, 18, of Ermineskin Cree Nation in Maskwacis, is wanted on the following offences:

· Attempted murder (X2)

· Discharge of a firearm while being reckless

· Possession of a firearm knowing possession is unauthorized

Deschamps is described as:

· Indigenous male

· 5’1 (154 cm)

· 132lbs (59 kg)

· Brown hair

· Brown eyes

Deschamps is believed to be in the Maskwacis area, but is also known to frequent the city of Wetaskiwin and the town of Ponoka. No picture is available.
