Rebels’ Coward named WHL Goalie of the Week

Red Deer Rebels goaltender Chase Coward is the WHL Goalie of the Week.

For the week ending March 27, Coward played two games, in them boasting a 1.00 GAA and .944 SV%.

The 19-year-old from Swift Current beat his hometown Broncos, stopping 21 shots in a 6-2 win Saturday night. The evening earlier, he turned away 13 versus Medicine Hat in a 3-0 victory.

Coward is now 19-9-0-2 on the season, with a 2.39 GAA and .909 SV%.

Coward was signed by the Rebels in November 2019, and has since played in 37 regular season games, racking up a record of 21-10-1-2. He has a career 2.53 GAA and .907 SV%, with two shutouts.

He and the Rebels play next on Saturday, April 2, at home to the Edmonton Oil Kings. Puck drop is at 7 p.m. with the broadcast live on 106.7 REWIND Radio starting at 6:30.
