Olds RCMP investigating injured male found in a ditch

RCMP are investigating after STARS Air Ambulance responded to a scene call emergency in Red Deer County over the weekend.

On March 27, at approximately 09:26 a.m. Olds RCMP responded to a complaint of a male found injured in a ditch along Range Road 28-5 near Highway 587.

Police arrived and located a male with life threatening injuries. The male was transported to hospital by STARS Air Ambulance and remains in critical condition.

“Our STAR-1 crew was dispatched from Calgary to a scene along Range Rd. 28-5 near Didsbury for reports of an unconscious male,” reads a statement from STARS. “We cared for and transported a male patient, approximately age 50, to Foothills Medical Centre where he arrived in critical, life-threatening condition at about 11:15 a.m.”

The investigation is in the early stages and the Olds RCMP Detachment and RCMP Southern Alberta District General Investigation Section are actively involved. At this time, it is not believed that the public is at any risk.

Mounties say an update will be provided once more information is known.
