Red Deer restaurants lose sight of extra sales on UCP voting day
Restaurants in Red Deer are no longer seeing April 9th as a profitable opportunity after the United Conservative Party (UCP) vote was moved from in-person to a mail-in ballot.
The vote regarding Premier Jason Kenney’s leadership was initially scheduled to be hosted at Red Deer’s Cambridge Hotel. However, on March 23 UCP president Cynthia Moore stated a large surge in registrants meant the venue would not be sufficient and therfore moved to a mail-in vote.
The party reported Thursday that 15,000 UCP voters had already registered for the in-person event.
